Guardians Nominate Peyton Pallette For Assignment, Remember Logan Allen

The right hand Peyton Pallette you have been selected for assignment, announced the guards. On the left Logan Allen he joins the big league club to replace him in the bullpen.
Cleveland took Pallette from the White Sox in the Rule 5 draft. As part of the normal DFA process, the club has five days to sell him or put him on waivers. If another team makes a move to add Pallette, they will take on the requirements of Rule 5. If Pallette goes through waivers, he will be dealt back to Chicago.
Pallette pitched to a 5.23 ERA in 20 2/3 innings with the Rangers. He struck out opponents at a decent 22.7% clip, but came with an unbearable 16.5% walk rate. The righty led off with a 95 mph four-seamer, accompanied by a pair of breaking balls. He changed from time to time. Pallette’s curveball and slider both worked well, producing decent whiffs and preventing hits. The fastball was a problem. Pallette’s heater dropped a 51.6% hard-hit rate and a .410 wOBA.
The White Sox took Pallette in the second round of the 2022 draft. He posted solid hitting numbers at every level in the minors, which is what likely drew Cleveland’s interest. Travel became an issue before Pallette moved to his new organization. The righty had a 9.9% walk rate last season in Double-A, and it increased to 10.9% after he was moved to Triple-A.
Allen pitched for parts of the past three seasons with the Guardians. He worked almost exclusively as a starter in the major leagues, posting a 4.48 ERA in 74 appearances (73 starts). Allen has struggled in preventing eight Triple-A outings this season, but has posted a solid 25.4% strikeout rate. He will likely step into a long relief role with Cleveland. Allen could also serve as a starting sixth man if the club wants more rest in the game. The Rangers play their 10th straight game on Sunday in a two-week off-day.
