Brewers Re-Signed Jake Woodford to Minor League Deal

The Brewers make another good signing Jake Woodford to a minor league contract, MLBTR’s Steve Adams reports. He will head to Triple-A Nashville after being claimed off waivers and designated free agency yesterday. Woodford, a client of Excel Sports Management, can opt out and re-evaluate free agency on July 1 or August 4 if the Brewers do not add him to the major league roster.
The player, 29, has spent the season in Pat Murphy’s team. Woodford is a mediocre arm who has gone 23 1/3 innings in 16 appearances. He allowed just under seven earned runs in nine innings with a bel0w-average strikeout rate of 17.9%. Woodford has never missed a bat but is willing to attack the batting position and can cover many innings.
It’s the seventh consecutive season that Woodford has picked up a nice amount of major league work. His pitching metrics have been well below average over the past few seasons, but he’s been a solid deep arm. Woodford has a 5.25 earned run average in just under 300 major league innings. He owns a 4.07 grade point average over seven Triple-A campaigns. Woodford has been a starter in his minor league career and can work in the rotation for Nashville.
