About DAAD
DAAD stands for ” German Academic Exchange Service “, a private, federal, and state-funded, self-governing national agency of the institutions of higher education in Germany. The German Academic Exchange Service, or DAAD, is the largest German support organization in the field of international academic cooperation. It is a registered association with the German institutions of higher education and students as members. It usually consists of a monthly bursary payment and a fixed travel allowance (currently for example € 1,200 for doctoral / Ph.D. students and € 861 for graduates). In many cases, DAAD also offers you health, accident, and personal liability insurance. Depending on the scholarship program, there are also additional benefits such as family benefits, one-time research grants, or funds for language courses. Eligibility
To be eligible for the DAAD scholarships for development-related postgraduate programs, you must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Work for a public authority, a state, or a private company in a developing country. In the course of the work, you must be involved in the planning and implementation of regulations and projects with an emphasis on development policy in technological, economic, or social areas.
- Holds a bachelor’s degree (usually four years) in a related subject.
- Complete an academic degree with far above average results (top third) and at least two years of related professional experience.
- Hold an academic degree that is not older than six years old.
- Complete a course in German (DSH 2 or TestFaF 4) and have a minimum German language level of B1 at the time of application.
- Hold an English test certificate – IELTS or TOEFL. For IELTS, it must be a Band 6 certificate, while for TOEFL you must meet a minimum score of 550 paper-based, 213 computer-based, and 80 Internet-based.

Host Nationality
