6:31 p.m.: The Blue Jays bought a right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson back to the Twins, reports Mitch Bannon of The Athletic. Minnesota picked him up over the weekend.

This is the second time Toronto’s front office has acquired Woods Richardson. The first came as a prospect back in 2019, when the Jays acquired him from the Mets as part of the team. Marcus Stroman deal. Woods Richardson was one of the best prospects in the MLB and found himself in another notable trade deadline two years later. Toronto packed on him and so-high hopes Austin Martin to Minnesota in ’21 José Berríos.

Woods Richardson began the next year with one start. He reappeared in the following season. The former second-round pick held the trade position for the better part of the next two years. Woods Richardson has been a good center rotation arm, posting a low-4.00s earned run average in back-to-back seasons. He compiled a 4.11 ERA and league strikeout average and walked a career-high 245 innings from 2024-25.

That combined with last year’s strong September added to Woods Richardson’s form going into 2026. Things went completely wrong this year instead. Woods Richardson has made two strong starts to open the season. He lost his next seven games, allowing nearly 10 runs in nine innings. Minnesota pushed him to a two-game scoreless pennant. He returned as a starter on May 28 and was robbed of five runs in 2 2/3 innings by the White Sox.

More to come.
