Is It Even Worth The Mets To Be Sellers?

Written by Steve Adams | on June 5, 2026 11:59pm CDT

The Mets’ season spiraled out of control more quickly than anyone expected. Even those who thought New York’s NL club would miss the 2026 postseason may not have predicted a 27-35 record that puts them third from the bottom of the league, behind the rebuilding Nationals or the $75MM Marlins.

Lots of Mets fans — understandably so! — raising the white flag of course and calling for the team to be deadline sellers. Surprisingly, the Mets are in no rush to part ways with veteran players. The list of commercial charmers isn’t very compelling (which is the main reason they’re in this mess in the first place).
