US Open Round 2 tee times: What you need to know

Rory McIlroy had to wait to begin his quest for his second title of the year at the 2026 US Open on Thursday morning. That was due to a two-hour long fog delay that pushed McIlroy’s time back two hours.

But the delay did not seem to have a negative impact on the World No. 2, at least initially. McIlroy, the 2011 US Open winner at Congressional, got off to a quick start, making birdies at 11 and 12, his second and third holes of the day, to tie at two under.

Whether he can keep his strong play going Friday at Shinnecock Hills is another matter.

Second-round match times may be affected by fog delays Thursday at Shinnecock Hills. Regardless, some players will not finish the first Round on Thursday and will be forced to finish their rounds on Friday morning.

McIlroy was originally scheduled to tee off in Round 2 on Friday at 1:47 pm ET, but fog delays may affect his tee time.
