REPORT: The Warriors are sick of Steve Kerr’s politics

Let’s face it. Steve Kerr is on life support as the head coach of the Golden State Warriors.

Others, like Outkick’s Dan Dakich, say Kerr is taking too much credit for what Warriors coach Mark Jackson was building before Kerr was hired. As it is, Kerr started at third base and “thinks he hit three”. Some give him his laurels as the winningest coach in the organization, including four NBA championships in six seasons while leading what will go down as one of the greatest basketball masters of the modern era, perhaps ever.
The most “funny” story, to use that word in context (I’m talking to you Coach Vrabel), is the report that Steve Kerr’s left-wing political activism could lead to his ouster.

As reported by ESPN senior NBA writer Marc Spears, while speaking to the Warriors’ radio affiliate 95.7 The Game in the Bay Area, “[Steve Kerr] he’s talking about social justice issues, he’s talking about racism, he’s talking about gun violence and I’ve felt a little bit that maybe he’s a little bit blocked from that.”
Did Kerr’s uncompromising, divisive political activism lead to trouble? It’s 100% audible even in free-flowing San Francisco. It’s hard to believe that could be the reason for the organization to fire Kerr or lead to him outing himself.
The SJSU TRANSGENDER VOLLEYBALL SCANDAL: A TIME OF SUSPICION, POLITICAL IMPLICATION AND A FAILED CULTURE
I believe my assertion is true because when The Game 95.7 host Mark Willard asked Spears to provide evidence about who “blocked” Kerr’s left-wing rhetoric, Spears said he wanted to “dig deeper” into that topic to confirm it. When Willard again pressed Spears about who to say, she just looked at the camera and smiled blankly.
I think the story is a bunch of nonsense in one particular sense. I can absolutely believe that powerful people in the organization may be weary of the continued political upheaval, like owner Joe Lacob, which The Game host Dan Dibley said so much when interviewing Spears. I also believe this is just a reporter trying to make Kerr into some kind of martyr.
As Bobby Burack said this week, Kerr lied about being involved in ICE operations in Minneapolis, which should convince the media to hire him, if he decides to stop coaching altogether.

Kerr said, “No way [ICE] you eliminate violent criminals. They’re taking 5-year-olds.”
This speech and other blatant false accusations, which Kerr ended up going back to, due to Outkick reporters pressuring him on the issue, can obviously cause problems in the organization.
Kerr has addressed a range of political issues since becoming the head coach of the Warriors, including gun control, Donald Trump’s presidency and policies, Black Lives Matter, and even spoke to Steph Curry at the Democratic National Convention to endorse Kamala Harris for president.

Ironically, Kerr didn’t “feel knowledgeable enough to comment” on China in 2019.
Interestingly, Nick Friedell of the Athletic published a report with the same claim as Spears, “League and team sources said throughout the season that Kerr’s desire to speak freely on social and political issues sometimes caused internal frustrations.”
STEVE KERR’S JOKE ABOUT RAPTURE, ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS, BRING ANGER ON SPEECH BOARDS
Steve Kerr is allowed to be the spokesperson for the Democrat party every second he has a job with the Golden State Warriors. Trying to say that you are somehow politically persecuted, is just nonsense.
If this is indeed true, in any sense, this is a business trying to protect itself, and doing its best not to alienate fans.

I was born in The Bay Area, and have been a Warriors fan ever since. I have worked for an organization. As a fan, I am offended by Kerr’s political zealotry. I’ve been sick of it for a long time, and I’d be happy to hear that a powerful, influential person in the organization was trying to encourage him to use better judgment when the opportunity arose to talk about certain issues, but to understand that this is not just Steve Kerr talking. This is Steve Kerr of the Golden State Warriors making a statement. What he said reflects the organization, in many ways.
I know I speak for many sports fans who have felt disenfranchised and disenchanted by sports leagues, teams, and networks becoming increasingly politicized and divisive.
We don’t listen to ESPN to hear about race hacking. We don’t go to games celebrating ICE activists and protesters. We don’t look at the Warriors or any other team, to hear how much their coach hates Trump, wants a gun, and his thoughts on immigration. Most fans want sports to be as political as possible for people. They want sports to stay away from politics, not to be an arm of the free media. We want sports to come together again. That starts with teams telling their coaches and stars to “shut up and hit.”

If Steve Kerr is let go, pushed out, decides to walk away, or a trivial situation leads to his ouster, it won’t be because of his political activism. Coaches can cheat on their wives and NFL insiders, players can beat their wives and girlfriends, and teams will still keep them around. I’m not saying it’s right, but if you can train or play at a high level, you can get away with anything. That’s why I can’t get on board that Kerr is somehow a victim of political persecution.

Kerr’s countless, flawless statements will not be the death of him. It may be time to start over. He has been a great coach, arguably taking Steph Curry, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, and the organization to the top in history. I can celebrate that, despite being politically motivated.
