“Saturah was a hardworking student with a positive attitude. He was full of energy and promises of hopes and plans for the future that will never come true,” the district wrote in a statement on Facebook.
“We can hope that we will support his family as they try to face this time of great sorrow. We are not only mourning the loss of a young life, but also an unfulfilled future. He will be missed a lot.”
Haywood County Sheriff Billy Garrett Jr. He described the shooting as a “senseless tragic incident” that disrupted what should have been a celebration.
“I will commit this sheriff’s office and all of our resources to bringing justice to his family. Our county is a great place to live and a strong, close-knit community, especially in times like these,” Garrett Jr. said.
