Google recently gave Workspace a 24/7 AI agent that sends email meetings and letters while you sleep

At I/O 2026, Google announced several AI-enabled updates to its Workspace apps. The main highlight of the announcement is Gemini Spark, a 24/7 AI personal agent that not only answers questions but takes action on your behalf.

It can send emails, add calendar events, and complete tasks across all Workspace applications. And before you ask, it asks you before doing the advanced task, and you can choose whether you want to allow it or not. It’s coming soon to preview for Workspace business customers on the Gemini app.

What else is new in Google workspace?

A lot, actually. Three of Google’s most-used Workspace apps are getting voice-based features this summer. Gmail Live lets you search your inbox with your voice, by asking “What’s the gate number for my flight?” and gets a quick response, passing the booking information to your inbox.

Docs Live goes a step further, serving as an assistant that organizes your spoken rambles into structured documents. It can also pull the necessary context from Gmail, Drive, and the web (with your permission). Keep receives logical update: speech, and converts the transcript into organized notes and lists.

With Docs Live, you’ll be able to create a new document and edit it — all with your voice. Just speak your mind, and let Gemini do the rest.

All three features are coming this summer to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in full, and to Workspace business customers in preview.

What about Google Pics and AI Inbox?

Google Pics is a new creative/editing tool, built on top of the Gemini Nano Banana model. Its main feature is the classification of objects. Select any element in the image and move, resize, or transform it without touching another. It also handles text editing and rendering, shared canvases, and Slides and Drive integration.
