Why Omni Amelia Island Resort & Spa delivers as a getaway for friends

All golfers know that there are moments in the game that require a flawless execution. Like a 4 foot slide to win the game. Or drive down a tree-lined chute. Although the most important? Maybe it’s planning that golf outing for famous friends.

So much is on the line that your position is counting on you to deliver an unforgettable, multi-day golf experience. You can’t leave anything to chance. Choosing a destination is important. That brings us to the Omni Amelia Island Resort & Spa, where world-class golf – and a series of “extras” that take things up a notch – deliver.

First, Omni’s extensive portfolio of golf properties (there are now 13 spread across the US) are located in some of the most desirable locations in the world, from the coast of California to the white sand beaches of Florida. And the lessons are not embarrassing.

The Omni Amelia Island Resort & Spa, nestled hard against the ocean and just 30 minutes northeast of Jacksonville, Fla., fits the bill perfectly. The weather is, well, perfect, the setting is superb, and the golf is superb. Do you want to bring your family? Amelia Island is one of the best family-friendly destinations in the country.

Two championship courses – the Pete Dye-designed Oak Marsh Golf Course and the Tom Fazio-designed Long Point Golf Course – are located at the Omni Amelia Island Resort & Spa. But there is also a short 10-hole course designed by Beau Welling, called Little Sandy, that is worth playing. It’s the perfect place to bet, have a drink and end the day in style with your group.

While the quality of the golf at the Omni Amelia Island Resort & Spa is exceptional – think marshland golf designed by three top designers – the post-golf activities also present something special. From strolling along the beautiful beaches to enjoying the great swimming pool near the beach in Northeast Florida, the vacation destination has endless options. There is a world-class spa, waterports, tennis, horseback riding on the beach and private fishing trips, to name a few.

As for lodging, the Omni Amelia Island Resort & Spa has beautiful oceanfront accommodations in two, three, and four bedroom suites. A warm sunrise over the Atlantic is a common way to start each morning.

Although the opportunity to go beyond the resort and explore the historic island is also a big draw for tourists. Amelia Island, which is thirteen miles long and about four miles wide, is known as the “Isle of Eight Flags.” The English, French and Spanish, among others, all ruled here. Fort Clinch State Park, a Civil War site, and the colorful historic district of Fernandina Beach – home to museums, Victorian-era buildings, shopping, nightlife and award-winning restaurants – take you back to a different time.

Amelia Island is also home to many waterways and, as you might expect, stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking are very popular. Biking along the many coastal paths is also a favorite. And, if you like, you can also time your visit to experience one of the many notable festivals (jazz, chamber music and shrimp festivals are popular) that take place on the island each year.

No matter where the road takes you on the island (there are three other great courses to play on Amelia Island if you prefer a more serious golf trip), the staff at Omni can facilitate your experience from start to finish. A dedicated Golf Experience agent is available to support your group, book sessions at discounted group rates, provide shuttles and transportation and more. Need club instruction from an experienced PGA of America coach? Scoring support? The prizes? Dining reservations? Special treats in the drink cart? Recommendations for local activities and attractions? They will make it happen.

After all, as every golfer knows, you don’t want to leave any stone unturned when planning your next golf vacation. Whether it’s a bucket list trip with your friends or a multi-generational trip for your whole family, Amelia Island delivers. To learn more about the Omni Amelia Island Resort & Spa, click here.
