Former Attorney General Pam Bondi was diagnosed with thyroid cancer shortly after leaving the Justice Department last month, according to a report.
Bondi, 60, who left his job at the Justice Department in early April, received treatment and is recovering, a source told Axios.
Katie Miller, a former White House staffer and podcast host who is married to White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller, also posted a report on X on Tuesday evening.
“Pam has been quietly kicking cancer for the past few weeks,” he wrote.

He added that Bondi “has a heart of gold.”
Axios revealed the health update when it reported that Bondi had been appointed by President Donald Trump to an advisory committee focused on intelligence policy.
According to this report, Bondi is expected to be on the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.

The council is co-chaired by White House AI and crypto czar David Sacks and White House science advisor Michael Kratsios.
It is reported that Bondi will help facilitate collaboration between the federal government and technical executives working on the panel.
The news of Bondi’s hiring and new counsel role comes weeks after Trump fired him as attorney general.

In a letter to Truth Social announcing his departure, Trump described Bondi as a “Great American Patriot and loyal friend.”
“Pam has done a great job overseeing a major crackdown on crime across the country, with homicides down to the lowest level since 1900,” Trump wrote. “We love Pam, and she will transition to a much-needed and important new role in the private sector, which will be announced shortly.”
Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche has served as acting attorney general since Bondi’s departure.

In a statement to X confirming his departure from the Justice Department, Bondi said he is “forever grateful for the trust President Trump has placed in me to make America Safe Again.”
“Over the next month I will be working hard to transition the Attorney General’s office to the wonderful Todd Blanche before moving to an important private sector role that I am excited about, where I will continue to fight for President Trump and this Administration,” Bondi wrote.

“President Trump’s historic and highly successful efforts to make America safer and more secure has been the honor of a lifetime, and easily the most important first year for the Justice Department in American history,” he added.
