John Harbaugh is unlikely to criticize Jaxson Dart for Trump’s rally appearance

NEWNow you can listen to Fox News articles!
New York Giants coach John Harbaugh is getting a chance to settle the controversy surrounding Jaxson Dart’s appearance at President Donald Trump’s rally on Friday afternoon because he will speak to reporters for the first time since the issue began to absorb all the oxygen in the team’s offseason program.
Harbaugh will be asked about his first presidential acceptance speech.
And the coach, who is the undisputed giant of power in this organization since he was hired in January, will make his voice heard and that will be it. Because whatever he decides, the players will follow suit. The front office will follow suit. And the media, whether they agree or not, will have to report what the most important voice in the organization has decided.
So this saga is coming to a climax.

Are you ready for popcorn?
A scheduled availability of 2:30 pm ET – yes, lunch time for some – may be satisfactory.
That leads to the next logical question: What will Harbaugh say? How will he handle his first problem, as minor and as unrelated to football as possible, with his new club?
We have ink based on the experience of knowing how Harbaugh works and what he believes. But before we share that, please understand that a coach only has a few options to choose from.

Harbaugh can:
- I agree Jaxson Dart made a mistake by agreeing to introduce the president of the United States at the rally and lead the crowd in a “Go Big Blue” cheer.
- Admit that Abdul Carter made a mistake by calling out his colleague on social media for posts he has since deleted.
- Admit that this is a team business and it has been handled internally without further details being given, which means that the stories told by the media, pundits, former players and social media who wish to keep the content flowing will choke all the oxygen.
- Or, Harbaugh can be more complicated.

We will choose the latter.
There is no chance that Harbaugh will throw Dart under the bus. It won’t happen.
First, and most importantly, he will not kneel for the man he most needs to succeed as a player and team leader. Second, Harbaugh agrees with Dart on many things Trump does.
People seem to forget this.
JOHN HARBAUGH BACKS FROM TRUMP-HATING LITE AFTER VISIT TO THE WHITE HOUSE.
Most of the Harbaugh family – Los Angeles Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh, his father and mother, sister and four children – visited Trump at the White House last year.
Afterward, the Harbaughs spoke passionately about the visit. And when things got ugly in Baltimore because a left-leaning reporter accused John Harbaugh of meeting with someone who said bad things about the city, the coach eloquently backed down.
So, that same man can’t blame his starting quarterback for meeting Trump.
It will be interesting to what extent, if any, Harbaugh criticizes Carter by name.
Look, the coach will probably preach about keeping the team’s business within the team. Carter violated that agreement by going public on social media. But there’s a way to make a point without embarrassing Carter and making him look like a villain. That wouldn’t help anyone interested in Carter developing and becoming a major contributor on defense.
So the coach will likely walk a fine line between keeping the team’s business sacred without lighting up an investigation into a key player.
Finally, get this ready: If Harbaugh gets any blame for all of this, it’s probably going to be on you — the blind public, the curious media, the opinionated lobbyists.
You are all evil.

Not his players, his team, his new family. You he turned this into something, not a Giant.

That, of course, wouldn’t play well here in the real world. But Harbaugh doesn’t care about that. He cares about his world, it’s where the Giants’ practice facility lives, where his players work, and where Harbaugh’s success or failure as a coach is defined.
