Cubs looking for a right hand Christian Roathe Orioles announced. Baltimore designated Roa to work on Friday after acquiring the righty Eduarniel Núñez in trade with Athletics.

Roa, 27, is no stranger to the waiver wire. He broke camp with the Astros, but was demoted after the first series of the season. Roa was appointed to the assignment after a second spell with the club in April. A series of jobs began that saw him jump into many organizations. Roa was claimed, then DFAed by the Twins and Orioles within weeks. Now he has come to Chicago.

Roa allowed five earned runs over 8 2/3 innings against Houston. He had more walks (7) than strikeouts (6) in seven appearances. Roa’s time as an Astro represents his longest MLB appearance to date. He threw three innings for the Marlins in 2025, his only in the majors.
