Taiwanese technology company Synology Inc. on Monday launched the PAS7700, the latest NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory Express) storage system operating in the Philippines, ready to help accelerate data-intensive technology applications for local businesses.

The company said that amid local businesses’ digital transformation plans and increased adoption of data-driven technologies such as AI and analytics, storage has become essential to support critical operations.

This has prompted organizations to place greater emphasis on performance, service continuity, and long-term stability when evaluating enterprise storage infrastructure.

With the introduction of PAS7700, it addresses the changing needs of business storage, Bie-i Chu, senior vice president of Synology NAS (Network-Attached Storage) group in a statement.

After a year of extensive real-world validation through our enterprise proof-of-concept program, the PAS7700 has been proven to deliver high reliability and performance, while helping customers reduce total cost of ownership (TCO).”

The PAS7700 is suitable for industries where storage performance is critical to performance, such as game development, semiconductor design, engineering consulting, and manufacturing. It is also designed for groups that manage large files, virtual machines, and databases, among others.

By providing high-quality centralized storage by supporting file storage, virtual workloads, Fiber Channel connectivity, and active architectures, the PAS7700 helps businesses manage demanding workloads smoothly,” said Synology.

It also provides organizations with a more reliable foundation to support future needs, including AI-related workloads, system expansion, and continuous operations with minimal disruption,” it added.

Among the key features of Synology’s PAS7700 is its design for critical workloads, which contains dual controllers and 48 NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory Express) SSD (Solid-State Drive) ports in a 4U chassis, with an increase of up to 1.65 storage units of seven petabytes.

It supports both file and block storage with a wide protocol compatibility, including NVMe-oF (NVMe over fabrics), iSCSI (Internet Small Computer Systems Interface), Fiber Channel, SMB (Server Message Block), and NFS (Network File System), and delivers up to 2 million IOPS (Input/Output Operations Per Second), sub-millised/GB increments.

The system also has an active active structure, which allows both controllers to work at the same time to reduce downtime, and multiple layers of protection such as triple-parity RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks), simulated write cache protection, IP failover, and automatic failover methods.

For data protection, the PAS7700 supports SED (Self-Encrypting Drives), WORM (Write Once, Read Many) folders, immutable snapshots, Snapshot Replication, and Hyper Backup, providing businesses with multi-layer resilience and recovery options for critical workloads.
