Christian Harrison and Neal Skupski returned to winning ways on Monday at the Mutua Madrid Open, defeating Robert Cash and JJ Tracy 6-3, 3-6, 10-7 to win a three-match tiebreaker and reach the second round of the ATP Masters 1000 event.
The fourth seed arrived in Madrid without a win since their second round victory in Miami last month. Harrison and Skupski, the Australian Open champions, will next meet Andre Goransson and Evan King in the Spanish capital.
In other first-round action Monday in Madrid, Sadio Doumbia and Fabien Reboul secured a 6-3, 6-3 victory over second seeds and Barcelona champions Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool. The French saved the two break points they faced, according to Infosys ATP Stats.

Romain Arneodo and Valentin Vacherot didn’t have to wait long to get a big upset on Sunday at the Mutua Madrid Open, where they opened doubles action at the ATP Masters 1000 event with surprising top seeds Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos.
The Monegasque pair won 2-6, 6-1, 10-6 after 72 minutes in the first round of the clay court event. Third seeds Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten also advanced on Sunday, as they navigated a test from singles stars Alejandro Tabilo and Learner Tien with a 7-5, 7-5 win.
Heliovaara and Patten are second in the PIF ATP Live Doubles Teams Rankings, aiming to return to the Nitto ATP Finals, where they won, in 2025.
