Jodie Sweetin says she once received a ‘Full House’ residual check for 1 cent

Despite the huge success behind the popular 90s sitcom “Full House,” Jodie Sweetin’s residual checks are “unreliable.”

During an appearance on the podcast “McBride Rewind”, the 44-year-old actress – who gained fame in her role as Stephanie Tanner during the entire eight-season run from 1987 to 1995, and again in the spinoff “Fuller House” from 2016 to 2020 – shared her latest shocking check.

“I got a penny check the other day. No, there’s no more transactions because it’s all broadcast. Who gets paid for that? Nobody gets paid for that,” he said.

“Sure, in my 20s, there would be money, but not reliable,” he continued. “You don’t know how much money it’s going to make or how many times they’re going to run the show. So, sometimes you’re like, ‘Oh, that’s cool. That was fun.’ And then sometimes you’re like, ‘Okay, okay, there’s a nice dinner.’ “

“You’re just like you don’t know. So, it’s not something you can count on,” added Sweetin. “I always say, people think I live a lavish life. I’m like, ‘Honey, I drive my 2023 Hyundai Sonata that I love. I rent out my house. I have maxed out credit cards.’ I live a normal life,” he explained. “And yes, there are times when you’re like, ‘This is going well,’ and there are times when you’re like, ‘I need a day job.’

Once “Full house” wrapped up in the mid-90s, Sweetin previously said he went through an identity crisis.

“I was all over the place. I think that’s why I got stimulants. I would be more sober than anyone in the room. I was looking for a way to make my mind work better,” he said while playing an episode of the game. “Skinny Confidential” podcast in 2025.

As her addiction continued, the mother of two said she knew she was on a dangerous path.

“I knew for a long time that I was entering the street where it would be prison, institutions or death,” he said. “I was getting really close. I didn’t think I was going to see my 30th birthday the way I did when I was in my mid-20s … life changed. I got married again and soon I found out I was pregnant and I said, ‘Okay, here’s what we’re doing.’

“I didn’t have a perfect journey, but that’s what changed everything,” she said of her first pregnancy. “As the party time is over.”

Sweetin got sober in 2008 after 15 years of drug and alcohol abuse.

These days, the actor and activist said he would be happy to play his role again if the opportunity arises.

“I’ll never say anything. And you know, if I have to come back in 20 years and work with these people again, that I’ve known my whole life, yes, I would absolutely do that,” he said on the “McBride Rewind” podcast.

“I love what ‘Full House’ is doing. I love what it’s created. I love what it’s saying to people. And I think as I get older and live more life, I understand how important it is to have that thing that connects you to your younger, safer self, and I know that.Full House’ does that. So, I’m very happy to continue to do that in any way I can. “
