MS NOW host Rachel Maddow has suggested former “60 Minutes” reporter Scott Pelley join her network after he was fired from CBS News on Tuesday.
“Nobody is more attuned to the value of a free machine than those who are trying to take it away,” Maddow said at the MS NOW panel. “And when the president says baldly, ‘I’m going to use the power of the state to get the media I want,’ and he enlists oligarchic friends to do it for him. Again, there’s no pretense. It’s not that this is for any other reason.”
He added, “There’s nothing else going on on CBS news other than what we see happening on CBS news. And I don’t know where Scott Pelley is going to end up. In fact, I hope he ends up here.”
Fox News Digital has reached out to the White House for comment.

MS NOW host Michael Steele was heard answering “yes” to the words as Maddow continued.
“I hope you’ll be on TV tomorrow. And I hope that everybody in journalism and everybody who values a free press finds ways to get past the people who are trying to take the free press away from us. But it’s a full-on war at this point. And there’s no, I just don’t think there’s any pretense that there’s anything else going on here,” Maddow said.
Overnight, Maddow repeatedly referred to Pelley’s firing from “60 Minutes” as an “oligarchic” takeover of the media by the Trump administration.
“I made a mistake when I talked about Scott Pelley’s news as a kind of Hungarian oligarchic style that takes the media. And even that kind of as a joke, but also a deadly dangerous kind,” said Maddow.

Pelley was fired from the long-running CBS News show Tuesday following a major clash with the network’s editor-in-chief Bari Weiss and new “60 Minutes” host Nick Bilton.
Fox News Digital confirmed that Pelley’s firing came after he lashed out at Bilton during an all-staff meeting on Monday where he accused Weiss of “killing” the magazine’s flagship program and told Bilton, who has no television experience, that he is “underqualified” for his new role.

In his statement, Pelley criticized parent company CEO David Ellison for tarnishing the reputation of CBS News “to curry favor with the Trump administration.”

“The leadership of 60 Minutes is no longer visible. The principles I hold dear are gone, so I must go,” Pelley wrote.
