Russell Henley used the new Titleist GTS club option

Russell Henley won the Charles Schwab Challenge this weekend with the Titleist TSi3 driver six and 3-wood, which is remarkable because he won. last time annually at the Arnold Palmer Invitational with new GT3 models.
But Henley would not be able to play the TSi3 7-wood as he did this week because there is no such option.
Instead, two weeks ago at the PGA Championship, Henley was put on the new Titleist GTS3 7-wood.
Recognizing the growing trend of high wood fairways on the PGA Tour, the GTS3 is the first Titleist “3” fairway wood option to be offered in the high 7 wood range. Previously, only the large models “2” and “1” offered a 7-wood loft.
Henley previously played a 21-degree hybrid at that location but worked with Titleist’s senior director of club development, JJ Van Wezenbeeck, at Aronimink to drive the new 7-wood to achieve a higher loft and a 235-yard carry number.
GTS fairway woods have a silver face, which helps players see more loft at address. Most players respond by blocking the ball better. Henley’s 7-7 wood is finally placed in the C4 SureFit hosel area, which adds another level of loft and makes the club one degree flatter.

The extra loft is likely the result of Henley covering the ball better and needing a higher touch to get the ball to his maximum height. He also went with a Project X Denali Black 80 TX short.
Henley is the second player to win with a GTS3 7-wood in the bag, after Cameron Young won the Cadillac Championship with a new team after entering the Masters.
