A US Secret Service agent was arrested in Miami on charges of indecent exposure while off duty, authorities said Monday.
The police officer, John Spillman, previously worked to secure President Donald Trump’s appearance on Sunday at the PGA Tour’s Cadillac Championship, held at Trump National Doral.
Spillman was being held at the Miami-Dade County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bond Monday, online jail records showed.
The 33-year-old suspect has been placed on administrative leave from the Secret Service, the agency said.

The incident involving Spillman happened at the DoubleTree by Hilton Miami Airport & Convention Center on Sunday night, according to WSVN-7 News Miami, citing an arrest report from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
Earlier in the day, Trump watched from a tent near the 18th hole at his golf club as players completed the final round of the Cadillac Championship.
Spillman was part of a detail that provided outside security checks for the event.
According to WSVN-7 News, hotel guests told investigators they were in the lobby around midnight when Spillman followed up. They later reported seeing “the defendant masturbating near their hotel room,” the station reported.
Security guards also found “the defendant with his pants down and masturbating on the sixth floor,” the report said.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from CNBC.
Richard Macauley, the head of the US Secret Service Police, in a statement sent to CNBC, said that the agency is aware of the arrest of an off-duty Secret Service officer by the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
“This alleged behavior is unacceptable and runs counter to the professionalism and integrity I demand from our employees,” Macauley said.
“The agency takes these matters very seriously; as a result, the individual has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of this matter and a full internal investigation,” he said.
Spillman’s arrest came more than a week after the Secret Service arrested a California man, Cole Thomas Allen, who allegedly shot a police officer as he passed through a checkpoint at the Washington Hilton Hotel, on the top floor where Trump was attending the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner.
That officer was not seriously injured, as his protective vest blocked the gunfire, authorities said. Allen is charged with attempted murder against Trump.
