CNN anchor Lydia Moynihan and political analyst Leigh McGowan came out during the hotly debated “Table of Five” about former LA mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt and his comments on homelessness, drug use and public safety in Los Angeles.
“I think Republicans should take a lot of notes because he’s real — you have to accept common sense and behave normally,” Moynihan said during the segment while defending Pratt’s online popularity and criticism of city leadership.
Moynihan said Pratt was engaging with voters by speaking frankly about the issues facing Los Angeles.

“And you’re calling out the fact that the libertarians in LA seem okay with letting people shoot in front of schools,” Moynihan said. “Dogs who inject fentanyl are alive. They don’t do anything.”
Moynihan said Pratt’s messages were connected because they focused on issues he was against and many voters now agree on.
“And you’re calling out obvious things that most Americans can agree on,” Moynihan said. “And it’s going viral because of it. People want common sense.”

McGowan quickly pushed back, saying Pratt’s comments and political ambitions reflected celebrity culture rather than effective governance.
“Is this common sense?” McGowan said. “As an LA voter, as someone who is going to vote for mayor in Los Angeles, I’m telling you, this defies common sense. This is very disappointing.”
McGowan criticized Pratt’s background in entertainment and strong culture, saying he was unfit to run a major American city.

“I’m tired of being surrounded by this level of stupidity,” McGowan said. “This guy doesn’t work. This man’s plan was to live on his true fame.”
McGowan also questioned Pratt’s promises to campaign on homelessness, corruption and “tenants’ rights.”
“How are you going to end corruption?” McGowan said. “He says he will no longer be homeless. How? He says he will have tenant rights. How?”
