What makes the Mizuno Pro M-15 iron so special?

In 2026, Mizuno decided to change things up and create more diversity in its iron system, introducing the Mizuno Pro Modern iron system alongside the Signature Series. The difference creates a nice separation between the irons of players who build one piece and full technology.
The IM-15 joins the M-13 in the player tech lineup as two options for better players who need help generating more launch and acceleration. It’s a great shape with reasonable lofts that provide more ball speed than similar packages.
For me, the best customer for the Mizuno Pro Modern Series M-15 is a good ball hitter who wants more speed. Older players who cannot yet swing, younger players who have not yet developed the appropriate amount of speed, and many top players in the women’s game can benefit. With more speed comes more launch and lower spin.
The combination of an easy start and quick release can mean the difference for a player who hits the green with a heavy shot versus a spin. Another advantage of the high launch, low spin option is that you usually get a straighter ball flight.
Mizuno Pro M-15 Custom Irons
Mizuno Pro M-13 and M-15, part of the new modern series. Sitting alongside the Signature Series (S-1 and S-3), the Modern Series represents a new evolution in forging performance. It’s designed for players who want more speed, forgiveness, and playability, while maintaining the shape and undeniable feel of the Mizuno Pro. The Modern Series starts with two different models, each designed for a specific type of ball striker. The M-13 features preferred travel ratings and a faster, more consistent flight profile, while the M-15 delivers a higher launch and more forgiveness that blends nicely into the set. Both retain the craftsmanship and heritage that defines every Mizuno Pro instrument.

Of course, since the M-15 is a Mizuno product, it still feels like a classic. It’s not easy to make a bare-bodied club feel right — there’s just a lot to design that combats sound and feel. Thanks to their Harmonic Impact Technology and its combined benefits with the copper underlay on the face, they are able to change the internal grip and design of each head to provide a cleaner response in the hands, a more compressed feeling on the face and a more pleasant sound.
Mizuno doesn’t just stamp the Mizuno Pro on any club – it has to feel, feel and behave like an heirloom.
One of the things you’ll hear us talk about in the video above is the idea that the M-15 is kind of its own built-in combo set. The 4-8 irons use a multi-material construction design with 51 grams of suspended tungsten, along with their Contour Ellipse Face (with Coretech) to provide long irons that are easy to launch even in these low loft designs.
The 9-GW offerings are designed as a hollow 1025E Grain Flow Forged body that gives players more control over the low end of the set. If you’ve read any of my other content, or followed any of my social media, you know that I’m not a huge fan of the combo set. I think a lot of times if you need it on a 6 iron you also need it on a pitching wedge. I wouldn’t tell someone to mix an M-15 with an M-13, for example, because the M-15 set does the job for you in the same package with the same loft structure. But then again, if you look at the group of people that I think these clubs are targeting, it makes perfect sense. They need more speed help at the top of the bag but still want the familiar control at the bottom. It is a very thoughtful approach.
Finally, the M-15 is a great option for players who want to add speed and launch while maintaining control where they want it. It’s not meant to be a forgiveness game. With that, you will move up to the JPX series of instruments. It looks great behind the ball (almost shockingly close to the old Mizuno Pro 241 blades) with a re-defined sole that allows the club to move in and out of a more efficient position. Fairway Jockey has been selling well this year and is killing it in the right places, so there’s a good chance it will work for you.
