15 Best Gifts for Plant Lovers and Gardeners (2026)

Let’s say your gift loves growing mushrooms but you excel at challenging varieties. If so, North Spore makes an automatic monotub ($165) that can be paired with the product’s substrate or pouring blocks. It maintains a growing environment with proper airflow and humidity, and I’ve grown so many mushrooms myself that I’ve become the Crazy Mushroom Lady, leaving bags on neighbors’ porches and chasing acquaintances at the grocery store.

(Note that the image above shows golden oyster mushrooms, which mycologists are investigating as a potential invasive species. North Spore says it is currently abandoning yellow oyster mushrooms while it works on developing a non-defect type.)

Decorative Indoor Trellis and Saucer Plants

If your friend or loved one supports their vines or floppy potted plants with bendable moss poles or, worse, a jerry-wrapped ladder made from pencils taped from a pipe (it was an emergency, OK?), treat them to one of these hand-finished, laser-cut supports. There are fixed and modular versions (my favorite is the amazingly scented, expandable redwood Zella) as well as coasters, wall mounts, and saucers that water your plants from the ground. I’ve tested many of them—including the classic versions—and they all add a dash of style while lending a delicate structure to the floppy and vining plants. Can’t choose just one? Lula’s garden

Sweet Gift Box

Lula’s Garden’s heart-shaped box was featured in our Best Flower Delivery Services guide, and since then, I’ve had many people recommend this product. Now I’ve tried it, and I have to admit—this is a great gift. It’s fun, it’s stylish, and it’s priced the same or less than flashy flowers. Not everyone is inclined to take care of a houseplant, but succulents are very easy to care for, and the box doubles as a planter. All you have to do is take out the box and use the included pipette to add a few squirts of water. Gardens are modern yet neutral enough to fit in with almost any decor. Just a heads up that taking out the gardens that come with the rocks (like Bliss) can be messy, but the high end gardens (like Urban) have no loose parts and come out of the box looking exactly like they do online.

Indoor Composting

Reincle

Prime Electric Composter

As seen in our Best Kitchen Composters guide, Reencle Prime doesn’t quite make a ready-to-use composter, but it comes the closest of any major brand. It works a lot like a hot garbage can – just throw in your kitchen scraps, and bacteria will break them down over time into a kind of loamy mixture. When the volume of Prime reaches the filling line, the mixture can be taken out and added at a ratio of 1: 4 with clay soil, and then left to cure for three weeks. After this, it can be used for both outdoor and indoor plants. Not only will it free up space in your giftee’s trash and reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions, it will make their plants happier.

Beauta

PolyRock Landscape Edging

It’s frustrating to spend untold amounts of time and money on your garden vision, only to find out that landscaping elements like actual stone walls and landscaping can cost thousands of dollars. If your gift likes to make their garden pop, these PolyRock blocks come in tiers, with six blocks about 4 feet tall. They fit together as neatly as Legos, look exactly like real rock, and are flexible, so you can use them straight or turn them in a circle. No drilling or measuring is required, and it’s easy to take them out and move around if you change your mind or design plans. You can choose from gray, brown, black, or white tones. I have a line of gray blocks installed in front of my house, and more than one neighbor has thought it was real rock. The grass nearby has even been cut with a string trimmer every week for months, and there are still scratches on the blocks.

The Gorilla

Poly Garden Dump Cart

Don’t worry about a malfunctioning wheelbarrow! A garden cart may seem like an odd gift at first, but this is the MVP of the whole yard section for me and the family. Not only does it carry mulch, plants, and yard tools, but it can also hold up to 600 pounds in the smaller version and 1,200 pounds in the larger, which allowed me to transport everything from a large pizza oven to bags of smoker pellets. The stroller has a quick-release front dump latch and pneumatic tires that handle mud and sand without a problem. I have tested other strollers in the past, but this is the only one that has found a permanent place in my garage. If your gift lives in a large place or needs to move a lot of pots or other things in his house, this will be an important friend. Note that it will require some assembly, but it shouldn’t take more than an hour.

A candle that smells like tomatoes

LAFCO

Classic Candle: Tomato Season

Flamingo Estate

Roma Heirloom Tomato Candle

You might be thinking: Why on earth would anyone want a candle that smells like tomatoes? I certainly did, when WIRED reviewer Louryn Strampe crowned the tomato-scented candle as a top choice in her guide to the Best Scented Candles. However, now that I’ve smelled it myself, along with a handful of other versions (LAFCO is my second favorite), I totally get it. I was immediately transported back to being among the sun-baked tomato leaves in my grandfather’s garden, but my teenage son, who lacked the same association, also immediately recognized it as a distinct summer scent. It’s warm and green, but still sweet and fresh. It is sure to remind your favorite gardener of good times to come.

A Quality Pair of Gloves

Digz

Large Long Cuff Gardening Gloves

I’ve used many garden gloves over the years, but these two are my all-time favorites. Digz’s long cuff garden gloves keep dirt, leaves, and other scum out unless you get down deep into something, and are great for pulling out blackberry vines, goosegrass, and other tall and/or sticky weeds. (Digz also makes great tools with soft, sturdy handles, but those aren’t widely available.) If you’re looking for something sturdy, durable, and versatile, Vermont Glove has been hand-sewing goatskin gloves since the 1920s, and the Flatlander design dates back to that time. These gloves are both surprisingly soft and surprisingly durable—my husband and I have both used them for all kinds of yard work, including pulling thorny weeds, and they’ve held up well despite their lightweight feel.
