Angels Re-Sign Joey Lucchesi to Minor League Contract

The Angels re-signed the lefty reliever Joey Lucchesi on a minor league contract, according to the MiLB.com transaction tracker. He will report to Triple-A Salt Lake after opting for free agency last week. Additionally, the log shows the released Halos Hunter Strickland again Angel Perdomo from their unregistered deals.

Lucchesi has signed with the Angels three times in the past six weeks. He joined late in Spring Training on a major league deal. The Halos designated him for assignment after three appearances, re-signed him to a minor league contract, and optioned him back to the MLB roster in late April. He bounced twice before becoming a DFA and opting for free agency when he cleared waivers.

The 32-year-old southpaw gave up six runs (five earned) in 3 1/3 innings. He recorded four strikeouts while issuing six walks. Lucchesi worked 8 1/3 frames of five-run ball and 11 strikeouts over four Triple-A games during his stint on the MLB roster.

Strickland and Perdomo each started the toughest game in Salt Lake. Strickland allowed 18 earned runs on 21 hits over 12 1/3 innings. Perdomo gave up 16 earned in 12 frames, walking 14 batters and striking out three. He gave up free passes to nearly a quarter of his batters.
