Bonnie Tyler wakes up from a coma after a cardiac arrest but remains seriously ill

“Total Eclipse of the Heart” singer Bonnie Tyler has woken up dry a month after suffering a heart attack, but she’s still “absolutely fine.”
On June 15, Tyler’s team announced on his official website that he is no longer in a medically induced coma, but is still in a hospital in Portugal.
“Bonnie is no longer in a coma but she is still very upset and is in the intensive care unit of a hospital in Portugal. Although her condition is improving, it is a slow process. Her doctors are still hopeful that she will recover well but it will take time,” said the statement.

His team has announced that any upcoming shows will be canceled and hopefully the shows scheduled for the fall will still happen.

The statement said they are grateful for the well wishes being sent Tyler’s way, but the family is still asking for privacy at this time. “Bonnie’s family continues to request privacy and promises to issue further updates as soon as there are significant developments to share,” the statement concluded.
“Bonnie is no longer in a coma but is still very upset and is in intensive care at a hospital in Portugal.”
In May, Tyler’s website announced that he had been rushed to a hospital in Portugal for emergency surgery. It was later shared that he had slipped into a coma.
Tyler, born Gaynor Hopkins, burst onto the music scene in 1976 with the release of his hit single, “Lost In France,” and later became a worldwide star with hits such as “Total Eclipse of the Heart” and “Holding Out for a Hero.”

She remained popular in Europe in the 1990s and later competed in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2013, representing the UK with the song, “Believe In Me.” He has continued to perform throughout the 2020s, and is on the Jubilee Tour, celebrating 50 years since his debut in the music industry.

“Touring keeps me going. I consider myself a down-to-earth girl, and I never stop working,” she said. The Times January 2025. “Moving my parents from the council house where I grew up to a small house in Mumbles is something I’m proud of, but it feels like an achievement that I’m still being sought after by an audience at my age. I’m very enthusiastic.”

Although many of his most iconic songs were released in the 1980s, they still work today, with “Total Eclipse of the Heart” becoming an unofficial anthem when the sun or the moon are present.

“I still get excited when I hear a song on the radio,” he told “Good Morning America” in April 2024. “Every time the sun goes down, everybody in the whole world, they play ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart,’ and I never get tired of singing it.”

Tyler is married to her former Olympic Judo competitor and real estate developer Robert Sullivan and has been since July 1973. The couple have no children together and split their time between their homes in Wales and Portugal.
