Jannik Sinner and Rafael Jodar both secured victories on Tuesday to set up a quarter-final meeting at the Mutua Madrid Open, while Casper Ruud secured a stunning victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas, saving two match points.
ATPtour.com takes a look back at Tuesday’s big news from the fourth round with a video.

Sinner extended his win streak at ATP Masters 1000 events to 25 with a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Cameron Norrie. The Italian is aiming to become the first player to win five consecutive Masters 1000 titles, having won in Paris, Indian Wells, Miami and Monte-Carlo.
Jodar got his 12th win in 13 games with a comfortable win against Czech Vit Kopriva. The 19-year-old Spaniard is the third young Spaniard in history to reach the quarter-finals in Madrid, joining Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz. In the quarter-finals at this level for the first time, Jodar next meets Sinner.
Ruud was on the brink of defeat when he was two points behind Stefanos Tsitsipas. However, he avoided the risk of survival…
Ruud then powered to a third-set victory against the former Nitto ATP Finals champion. Ruud is on the defensive list in the Spanish capital and will be eager to add to his 10 clay court trophies.
In other action, Flavio Cobolli advanced to the last eight by defeating seventh seed Daniil Medvedev 6-3, 5-7, 6-4. The Italian will face either Alexander Zverev or Flavio Cobolli.
Nothing is stopping Arthur Fils at the moment. Champion in Barcelona earlier this month, the Frenchman advanced to the quarter-finals in Madrid with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Tomas Martin Etcheverry.
The next player for Fils will be Jiri Lehecka. The Czech defeated last year’s Madrid semi-finalist Lorenzo Musetti to continue his fine season. Lehecka reached the final in Miami in March and is now only two wins away from matching that in the Spanish capital.
Alexander Blockx advanced to the last eight of a Masters 1000 event for the first time with a dominant win against Francisco Cerundolo. The 21-year-old is the youngest Belgian to reach the quarterfinals in the series’ history. Watch how he saved the first set in style against Argentina.
