Starter: Guzman, Rivero, Scott

No pitcher has endured Coors Field longer than the Rockies lefty Kyle Freeland. The veteran threw five frames on Sunday, passing Aaron Cook for the franchise lead in innings pitched (h/t DNVR Rockies on X).

1. Guzman going up to the Angels

Angels are expected to remember inner hope Denzer Guzmanfirst reported by Taylor Blake Ward of Baseball America. MLB Pipeline has Guzman ranked 7th in the Angels system. The shortstop got off to a brief start last season, joining the club in the final two weeks of the year. Guzman hit .190 with a few home runs over 13 games. He got off to a good start in Triple-A this season. The 22-year-old Guzman is slashing .336/.403/.571 with 12 homers and nine stolen bases for Salt Lake. Guzman is unlikely to play shortstop Zach Neto penciled in every day, but has seen time at third base in the minors.

2. Rivero’s career date

The Angels salvaged the last game of the series against the Dodgers on Sunday, hanging up 13 runs in their in-state contest. A slow hitting catcher Sebastian Rivero led the way on a monster day at the plate. The backstop went 5-for-5 with 6 RBIs in the win. Rivero entered the game hitting .133 as part of the season behind the regular starter Logan O’Hoppe. He had 8 RBI in his career over four MLB seasons before Sunday’s game. Neto once a day Mike Trout combined with going from 1 to 12, it was the bottom of the order of doing damage against Emmett Sheehan and the company. Jo Adell He went 4-for-5, and both Nick Madrigal again Jose Siri reached base four times.

3. The Cardinals cut Scott

The Cardinals are expected to option outfielder Victor Scott to Triple-A, first reported by Tamar Sher of KMOV St. Nathan Church will probably fit into Scott’s list, according to a report from St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Church is currently rehabilitating a shoulder injury. Scott has a 57 wRC+ through 61 games. The 25-year-old didn’t provide much hitting last season, but he did manage 34 steals and 12 Defensive Runs Saved in the middle. Scott has nine steals this season. His career with the glove has been spotty, as he has a -2 DRS in 471 2/3 innings. Weeks has spent time in all three areas of the outfield this season. He’ll be a candidate to take center stage, too Lars Nootbaar and entry.
