Steven Spielberg has spent decades putting aliens on the big screen. Now, the famous filmmaker has admitted that years of UFO reports and eyewitness accounts have convinced him that people who claim to have seen them are to be believed.

While promoting his new film “Disclosure Day,” Spielberg said widespread documents, smartphone videos and testimony from military and government figures helped move the UFO topic from tabloid territory to the mainstream.

Although he said he has never personally seen a UFO, the Oscar-winning filmmaker admitted that he is now more willing to trust those who claim to have one.

“Well, the younger me wouldn’t have been exposed to a lot of the visuals of what was going on,” Spielberg said as he exited the Daily.

“Seeing is believing and until I see something myself. And why I haven’t seen a UFO – I don’t understand why they haven’t come to me yet. I mean, I feel like their agent. So I haven’t had any sightings. However, having said that, many believers, now I believe believers.”

Spielberg said he started paying close attention when UFO stories were no longer confined to the margins and high-profile voices began to come forward with their accounts.

“…I really feel that things started to get into a normal place. And then after that, there were a lot of documents that were made, and I saw all of them – every document that was made about this. And you can’t make a document without people coming forward. Now, there, it’s not under oath, but a lot of people from Congress, from the military started to come forward.”

For “Revelation Day,” starring Emily Blunt and Josh O’Connor, Spielberg said he wrote a story based on science fiction.

“The foundation on which I built my science fiction is a very credible foundation, based on everything I’ve learned over many decades, but especially in the last decade,” he explained. “And there is consistency in reporting.”

“There is overwhelming evidence from tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of people who have said, not only in America, but all over the world, that they have seen something or met people who have seen things,” added Spielberg.
